well, the jingle jam is over! (well, the game jam part. the actual jingle jam is wrapping up as i write this, but you get the gist.)
i think the judges enjoyed my game.. its hard to tell. but they played NOT VERY CASH MONEY live on stream, and thats still one of the best things to ever happen to me. i’m immensely proud of this little silly asteroids-roguelike-sh’mup game, and i’ll probably come back to update it a few times.
in the meantime, here’s a neat little balancing and QOL update that i started working on after i submitted:
changes
- added settings!
- updated the ‘tutorial’ menu a little; it now also opens first try. i forgot a negative symbol, i think.
- added a custom game tab :P
- updated the pause menu, you’re probably less likely to give up by accident now. also links to bug reporting page on github :)
- balanced some perks
- added a new perk; “damage reduction”
- fixed a couple minor bugs
settings
- there are a few settings, mostly for volume control and disabling visual effects.
- theres nothing major otherwise, but this was the main thing i wish i had time for in the jam time. oh well! its here now.
customisation
- the big part of this update! customise the game to your hearts content, and tweak a few variables to make the game harder or easier.
- more variables coming later :)
dev note
i personally really like how this turned out. i love the terminal stylisation, i think its very quirky.
